Evaluation Of Prelimary

How does your prelim represent particular social groups?
It represents young adults/ teenagers as proud and intelligent pupils. The front cover uses a teenager, who has his head high with the camera at a slight angle looking upwards, showing the student as proud and confident, also props (such as his glasses) add to looking intelligent, with glasses stereotypical of very clever people. They are shown as hard working students, through contents pictures of them working and helping each other. They are also shown as happy students, which convey the school as a happy place to be, which therefore relates well to parents.

Who would be the intended audience for your product?
My intended audience is parents of teenagers and teenagers themselves. The magazine content is aimed at new students joining the college or changing education course. Therefore it is suitable for a teenager target market. The magazine also has contents of how parents can help, and also has information on the changes that may affect their children; therefore that target market (parents) will also be intrigued.

How did you attract/ address your audience?
As my audience is intended at students and parents, the contents shows many subjects of information about joining the school, and what new features it has to offer to different levels of education. For example both "GCSE" and "A-Level" parts show the audience what new subjects are available. Sentences are very simple, and vocabulary is formal but uses easily understandable words so it suits both adults and teenagers. Mainly my front cover uses rhetorical question like “Playing Catch-up?” which entices the audience and because these subjects relate the audience, they want to read on to find out more.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
From this product I have learnt how to light a photo to create different moods and different shadow techniques. I’ve learnt how to remove shadow from one side of the face with a reflector and have also learnt how to remove shadow with a backlight. Constructing the product has also enhanced my ability on Photoshop and on iPhoto. Working with these programmes has taught me new cropping and retouching tools to use, which have improved my ability to edit and enhance photos.
